18 finalists were selected after the Jury reviewed over 500 applications from the whole EMEA region, with three more to be selected after public voting.
“The great interest and amazing ideas we have received show that EMEA is ready to compete with the Silicon Valley in nurturing the entrepreneurial spirit of the young generation”, said Plamen Russev, member of the 2012 StartUp Challenge Jury.
Starting from Wednesday, 8 August, until 15 August, all 31 remaining shortlisted challengers will be voted by the visitors of Webit Congress web site. The first 3, who gather the most votes, will join the pre-selected 18 stratups for the finals in Istanbul.
The hardest part of the contest for the finalists is yet to come. During Webit Congress, EMEA's only international event for the emerging digital markets (10-11 October, Istanbul), each of the finalists will get a free expo booth and the chance to showcase their products and services to over 6000 delegates from 60 different countries. The competitors will also have the opportunity to pitch on stage in front of the judges and potential investors.
