Oli Madgett is Co-Founder of We R Interactive the social games developer and publisher for sport and music.
Madgett developed the original concept for We R Interactive’s first game social football game, I AM PLAYR after previously having launched ‘A Message from Earth’ on Bebo, which was a community co-created digital time capsule that was beamed into space via radio telescope with the help of the National Space Agency of the Ukraine in 2008. Previously Oli was Commissioning Editor for Interactive at ITV, working principally with ITV Sport. In 2001 Oli was one of the founders of participation media consultants Siren, where he managed interactive services on shows such as Celebrity Get me Out Of Here, This Morning, Hells Kitchen and Big Brother; as well as launching the first SMS-to-TV games on MTV and Emap’s TV music channels.
How brands involvement can be additive to social games
Oli breaks down the integration of brands such as Nike into I AM PLAYR, which led to the Facebook game winning the first ever Gold Branded Content and Entertainment trophy at the prestigious Cannes Lions Advertising Festival Awards 2012.
Oli will outline the opportunity for brands to credibly engage and connect with consumers on their own terms through their integration into a social gaming narrative that enhances andauthenticates the user’s experience by virtue of their involvement.
The session will highlight the importance of the narrative backstory and underlying technology platform in creating a canvas for brands to be woven into a social game on both a global and territory specific level.
