Prof. Dr. Asaf Varol

Professor of Computer Science Education at Firat University/Turkey

Asaf Varol is a Professor of Computer Science Education at Firat University/Turkey. He has been serving for 32 years in the College of Technical Education at Firat University/Turkey. He also has been in Germany, in the UK and in the USA as a researcher and as a visiting professor for totally more than 8 years. He taught informatics technology courses at West Virginia University between the years of 2004 and 2005.
Professor Varol is the founder of the Department of Electronics and Computer Science Education, and Communication Faculty at Firat University. He was also founder of Siirt University that was established in 2007.   
He was a member of National Informatics Committee (organizes distance education studies under the supervision of Higher Education Council (YOK)) between the years of 1999 and 2002. He is a member of Executive Board of Turkish Informatics Association, Turkish American Scientists, Scholars Association (TASSA) and ACM (Association for Computing Machinery).
His research interest is in distance education, governmental network, computer systems, and database management systems.
